Mermaids - thanks for the great info! I used the same cardboard that they use to back comic books with, I think that it has a lower acidity level than most cardboards, and therefore does not damage fibers. Also, the room in which I do all my sewing doesn't even have a window (bad for me, but good for the fabrics), so they never are exposed to sunlight. Dust is another issue altogether, but I do try to keep everything well dusted in that respect. And, yes, I do typically use my fabrics within one month of purchase. Thanks for bringing up these great points.

the dress and top are adorable! great save on the vintage fabric.

the fabric storage looks pretty. however, i would be concerned about using cardboard to store the fabric. cardboard is highly acidic. that acid can leech onto the fabric leaving either holes or nasty stains. also, having the fabric exposed to daylight can cause fading. some fabrics will fade very, very quickly. it looks so pretty to have all the fabric visible, however, i keep mine in plastic tubs in a closet. the fabrics are protected from fading and dust.

perhaps you are different than i and actually use your fabric quickly. :)

OMG! I love the idea for the bookshelves as a place to stash fabric. I hope you don't mind but I'm probably going to steal that idea for my own studio :D
